Siniša Ilić and Bojan Djordjev have been collaborating since 1998 in

various theatre, performance art and visual art projects. They

collaborated on performance art works Actress (Work) in Progress and

L’année dernière à Solitude (Akademie Scloss Solitude 2004 and 2006),

Frida Kahlo – una pierna y tres corazones (Museum of Contemporary

Arts, Belgrade, 2002) but also within larger author groups and

structures – The Dracula Project (Theater des Augenblicks, Vienna and

Les subsistances, Lyon, 2002). In these works the authors investigate

and rearticulate the traditional divison of labour in the arts, their

professional positions – acting, directing, painting – and collective

authorship, at the same time exploring issues such as performative

utterance, gender, desire, memory, text. In the nomadic long term

project Desert of Picture (since 2002) Ilić and Djordjev explore

performative potentials of communication with the audience in

different performative formats through critical readings of images

that surround us (exhibitions Beyond Theory, SUSHI Gallery, San Diego

and Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Vienna, 2008, Passage, Suluv, Novi Sad 2011

etc.). Both are co-founders and editorial board memebers of TkH

(Walking Theory) art and theory platform from Belgrade (since 2001)

through which they realize part of their artistic activities. As part

of TkH project How To Do Things By Theory they had residence at Les

laboratoires d'Aubervilliers, in Paris. Recently they showed their

performance collaboration Letter to Heiner Müller at La Mama E.T.C. NY

Siniša Ilić

Works in the fields of visual and performing arts. Through his work he

deconstructs social phenomena and mechanisms, such as forms of labour

and violence in society, concepts of education, etc. His works are

often oriented towards collective and collaborative self-organized

projects with co-authors from different artistic fields of visual

arts, but also theory, theatre and performance. MFA in painting at

Faculty of Fine Arts, Belgrade. Artist in residence at Kultur Kontakt,

Vienna, ISCP, New York, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart. Born in

1977 in Belgrade.

Bojan Djordjev

Theatremaker active in both institutional and independent theatre. His

interests in theatre and performance include collective authorship,

working with experimental playwriting and post-drama theatre. MA in

Theory of Arts and Media at University of Arts in Belgrade, BA in

Theatre Directing at Faculty of Drama Arts, Belgrade. Artist in

Residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, and Artslink/New

York Theatre Workshop, New York. Currently participant at DasArts

Amsterdam. Born in 1977 in Belgrade.
